Cool. It actually sounds like an Owner Bullet type jig head. I have a few of them, they are great for fishing rock marks.

yes magpie, very similar, hook identical except for lead, my pal prefers to add cone head weight to hook and lure, that lure in the picture would be very close to what i was using, however, i imagine you could use any on the market

im not a techy when it comes to rod n reel either, i was using a 10ft stiffish spinning rod and medium fixed spool with 18lb mono....... i think braid is recommended for 'feel', but i was happy enough with my set up

if u get pictures of the jelly and jig up would be nice ... i duno snaggy ur mark is but one i go to is proper bad, ive tryed jellys a good few times lost loads, no bites , figured it was my setup. now i just go with 50lb braid 60lb trace 30lb snoods

maybe you are not masking the hook point properly< check the link on magpie01's post at the top of this page............ look at the first image very closely and you will see that the hook point is well concealed in the worm, after each cast this should be checked and this should eliminate a whole lot of snag ups
