SPECIMEN WRASSE ON THE LURE 25/10/2011

That's a cracker of a fish, especially on the lure! According to that converter its around the 4lb mark which looks about right, maybe closer to 5lb since its a chunky lookin fella. Congrats on it

Just did the converter there and it's closer to 7lb

Its 18 inches once you take into consideration the more left position of the measuring tape in the photo without the fish (look at the position of its head relative to the end of the spool vs the position of the tape relative to the end of the spool) - 46cm - put it into the converter and its 3 lb 15 oz. But as I said its a chunky lookin critter, probably from its apparent diet of fish!

Lucky, what bs line did you use to haul it in? They are arm wreckers on the first run! Well done on getting it in either way

I didn't investigate it, I just took it as 21 Inches from the report, i'll take your word for it!

you are right about the tape looking like it was to the left abit, but it ws from the angle i took the photo from. i have retaken the photo with the same rod ,same reel,same tape and it still come in at just under 21inch or 53cm hope this you will agree on...

Deary me it really has got to this....... the fish is actually 47cm after some forensic analysis! Which is 4 lb 3 oz (not far off the 4.75lb specimen weight) according to the converter. Its not the same tape measure btw, the 1ft mark is red in the earlier photo and black in the later. Either way being pedantic doesnt detract from the quality of the fish. Well done on the catch, its not 7lb but still a cracker.

not too worry Alan, some people seemingly have nothing else to do take it easy mate and don't mind the begrudging brigade.

as kev pointed out, (after what could be hours and hours of forensic examination ), its probably not a 7lb wrasse, but it is a cracker. nice one

Nothing begrudging whatsoever, no one has said anything of the sort - it just isnt a specimen. Just trying to assist the accurate weighing of the fish for lucky, if that amounts to begrudging then there isnt hope for any of us. As I said, its a cracker and one I would love to have landed myself (never had one of any size on a lure). Well done lucky.

look all we dont have to go down this road again do we, i thank ye all for the replys and comments ,, and yes it was hell of a scrap with the fish and one i will remember..... lets all enjoy our fishing and enjoy reading reports........... THE END...............

Its good to see you lads further south are still getting the wrasse, I think our northern ones have begun to leave for the winter.

Lucky puts up a report and everybody jumps on the band wagon again and on the shore we all dont have scales so a bit of improvisation on measuring the fish so come on dont go down that long windy road again...... Just be thankfull that the report was put up for us to enjoy and wish that we had caught that LUMP of a fish......
