Nice fishing, was down myself the other day, there were a few shoals of fish about, but not much feeding going on. Will keep at it. Saw Norman, down with another bloke fishing the fly, hopefully the fish will start feeding properly soon, and I might get the opportunity to throw the fly at them myself! Well done!

Nice few fish there. Well done to k2. Petty the fish didn't geace your hook paula. I do a bit of fly fishing myself and am dying to get a mullet on the fly. I caught my first one of the season a week ago on bread flake. But when i turned to grab the scales and camera the fish hopped off the narrow jetty i was standing on :x . So i'll have to go back and catch him again for a photo.

I would just like to say a big thanks to everyone from myself and K2 for your kind comments, it's very much appreciated.
Sorry for the delay in posting my reply to you all, I have been away on holiday and just got back a couple of days ago and so I'm just getting a chance to catch up on things now.
Thanks again.

Amazing report and photos, as always, and great start to the year. Can't wait to see the rest of your reports coming soon too. Fantastic fishing and i'm sure you'll inspire a lot of people, myself included, to finally have the confidence to really give Mullet fishing a serious go.

If I check out a local mark where Mullet have been spotted at various times over the years, but there are other spots with more regular fish could I noticably encourage more fish to gradually congregate in my mark with a few weeks groundbaiting. I ask this because the marks with perhaps more regular fish are: 1. A harbour with too many people to pester me, or 2. Marina with same problem plus I might get chased from it as i'm no longer a member there. Tried once last year from where we keep our boat, but with no success though there were only a handful knocking about that day. I have had a few areas in mind within walking distance from home for a while, but haven't been checking them for fish lately.
Probably like a lot of guys it's something I always intend to do, but I definitely have a lot more incentive now as I don't drive and other people I fish with are tied up with things these days so have been having to do a lot more local fishing lately. I would be able to potentially groundbait a mark most days during the week as i'm in a van working from my hometown. Would this be worth doing so I could fish a spot covertly, in peace and perhaps away from ridicule, not to mention just be able to head out fishing handily after work.

thanks

Thanks Dave, I'm glad my report has inspired you to give the mullet fishing a go, they really are a great fish to target. I'll try and send you some info when I get some time to help get you started, good luck and enjoy.
