just to clarify the silver eel, brown eel or to be scientifically accurate european eel (Anguilla anguilla) are the exact same gentic species. a parr are both salmonoides but are they a different species.

correct eric, both are anguilla anguilla, and every silver started off as a brown eel, however they totally change when they become silver, one of the main difference's is that silver eels are totally sealed up and their gut srivels up and disolves, they are unable to eat anything and they do not feed so if someone says they caught silver eel in the sea i'd have to say they are mistaken,
