Cracking report and pics, I class estuary Mullet fishing as being one of the most challenging so a big welldone.

Just one tip with the camera, if you get it wet DON'T turn it on as this is what wrecks it. Take it home and dry it out for a few days before turning it on and it should be fine.

Thanks seanie. We are lucky to be able to just get up and go away fishing for 12 days 8) and no...it's not a zziplex in the picture, I think you have mine! Well, the last thing I knew it was being posted down to you, didn't you get it?!

declan65 wrote:Great report Paula as usual and some great fishing too :D

Thanks declan, we had a great time despite the mishap  with the camera and fork!

The Austrian wrote:Excellent report and pictures Paula, smiling faces despite the mishap with the camera 8) . Stingray and Tope, hmm, I'd say for tope you have to get on a charter, time to grow sealegs now :P . Stingray might turn up in the Shannon Estuary when the water warms up a bit if I hear something from the lads down there I let you know. Big well done on the nice fishies :D

Thanks Martin  yes, I was still able to smile although the incident with the camera did depress me for a few hours after it happened. I couldn't believe how stupid I was but it's easy done I guess  I wasn't gonna let it spoil the holiday though - no way! Let these sealegs know if you hear anything about the stingray and I'll be down, I'm not giving up on catching one this year yet, I've still plenty of time (I think).

Nice fishing, shame about the camera. I had a disaster last summer with my mobile getting soaked. It was in my trouser pocket inside my waders and we were wading too deep and when crossing a channel to get back I shipped alot of water. Result was a destroyed phone.

Pretty serious stuff if you think about it. When would you like your phone to be working? Answer - just when you are facing drowning! Or just when your phone stops working because its drowned. Not clever at all !

Solution was found at a website: www.over-board.co.uk

They have a range of completely waterproof cases for mobiles and cameras (I'm not connected with the company, just that I really rate their phone cases). I've been using the mobile case when wading and when its raining and it is very good, as you can use the phone when still in the case and hear OK, and you can see through the case, and you know it will be there and working should you need it in an emergency

Thanks carpets. Your right, there's no shortage of fish but it can be hard to find them sometimes! We've sussed the place out quite well but it's such a vast area you'd need to live down there for years to get to know everywhere. We are looking forward to the coming weeks to go and do a spot of mullet fishing.
K2 caught a nice mullet today - that's us started up here now after hitting them in Kerry - happy days! 8)

Thanks Alan. K2's head is recovering well, I didn't do him much damage. That'll teach him for asking me to help him dig worms when he knows I hate it!

high low wrote:Nice report and pics Paula!Good to see you both are on the mullet.Grtz, Paul

Cheers Paul, the mullet fishing is good crack, we love it. K2 has been fishing for them for years now. I have only started the last few years and I am really enjoying it.

RockHunter wrote:Great report and photos.
Well done on your first mullet.
Sounds like a great holiday apart from the wet camera - one of the hazards of fishing, I have got through about 4 cameras over the last two years.
I am off on a bit of a fishing holiday myself - but abroad, Croatia. The first week just travelling around, then the second week will be purely fishing off one of the islands with a local guy and his boat.

 Four camera's in two years - Oh Frank! I thought I was bad. You've made me feel abit better now. They aren't cheap either, you must be skint
Good luck in Croatia, that'll make a nice change from fishing the beaches at home, hope you catch loads of fish. Have a safe journey 8)

Dave wrote:Fantastic report and photos there Paula, looks like you both had a great few days fishing down there, well apart from the broken fork and the soggy camera. I'll be making my annual pilgrimage to Dingle in July and I'm already counting down the days, can't wait.

Thanks marshpike. I agree with you. Fishing for mullet in estuaries is a real challenge but it’s one that both of us enjoy. The mullet are so clever and so when you outwit them it’s brilliant!
Thanks for the advice about the camera, I wish I had’ve knew not to turn it on when it’s wet. It might have saved me alot of heartache and money buying another one. Aww well, it’s a good lesson learned. One I won’t forget in a hurry!

Thanks for the comments conger. I thought you would have liked the jersey. I always wear it down there when I can, it’s been quite lucky for me when I have been out fishing. We both have good taste. Not only is Munster a great area for fishing but it has an excellent rugby team too 8)

If not, I know the liffey is full of mullet, you could give them a go there in the summer. I'm thinking off trying for them myself there sometime this year.
