turbottastic trip to galway/mayo 26th & 27th oct

Great report lads. Met ye briefly in the car park on Monday, delighted you got the turbot Jordan, it was a long time coming. Fair play to Noel for looking after ye so well.

Nice trip away lads, Jordan over the moon for ya buddy, was only a matter of time Sounds like Doggie showed ya's a hell of a time, sounds like a top bloke! I'll be in the deep south playing rugby tomorrow, I wonder will the coach let me bring a rod

They should make a TV series out of your trips Al ,well done Jordan you've been after that Turbot for a while, and thats a fine flounder ,looks like a dustbin lid . Top marks to the lads for looking after you, as has been already said thats the beauty of this site

well done jordan lad, i knew you would come good on the turbot. i'm well pleased for you now that you got the first one under your belt, you will probably be pulling them in steady from now on and fair play to doggie for showing you's a good time great report and pic's guys well done.

we left belfast around 4am and were sitting down to a fried breakfast at doggie's house around 9.30am (top man).

just as well we had so much bait noel, that contraption of jordans must have taken a full fillet of mack and a couple of squid just to bait up and sorry james,, i'm terrible with names and we met so many anglers in a short space of time, my bad. a real decent bunch of lads out that stretch of coast.

cheers davy. we were all made up for jordan . the craic was mighty too we nearly fell about the beach laughing when jordan produced the 7 hook flapper . if that's not determination, i don't know what is . but that killary mark seems to have been hammered since we were last there last time we were there with saltydog we only saw 2 other anglers in 2 days. but there must have been a dozen guys there that afternoon alone. and there was the evidence of lots of other anglers there before we got there with the heads and bait packets left behind if morons continue to leave so much rubbish behind at that mark i'd say it would'nt be too long until the people who own that bit of private land get peeved off and kick up an understandable fuss about it and it gets ruined for the lot of us

But Al your probably right given the current cost of fuel/bait/car ins etc - EXPENSIVE , @ 55 miles per cm........it IS likely to be the most expenise turbot in history
By the way, that 35cm flounder is no slouch of a fish
Suprised you didnt try Lettergesh for turbot great spot from what I'm told, (or maybe you had done )
When ya down this way again, must make a better effort to get out with ya next time

thanks mark. i think we're gonna need sponsorship next year from a fuel company or something that had to be the most expensive turbot in ireland we fished lettergesh the last time we were down with conor, but doggie had good info where more turbot were being taken in better numbers more recently can't beat a bit of good local knowledge deffo gotta tie in with you soon man for a wee sesh

thanks aaron. the flounder alone was a good one and the turbot was just the icing on the cake for jordan we were all made up for him and doggie3131 was kind enough to let jordan hit any bites he got on his rod until he landed the turbot . none of it would have been possible without his kindness and knowledge. we owe him a great deal of gratitude

cheers stevie, we set ourselves the target of 125 sessions this year and we're almost there our mission next year will be to fish every county in ireland that has a stretch of coast in it we're already making preperations to get it into action and the quick sand was a fright alright don't think i've ever moved so fast in my life. i figured so long as you stayed moving you would'nt sink... must have looked like a swan taking flight into the air from the water only without the grace of a swan more like a hippo having a fit . and just a side point stevie. the p.b. flounder fell to the longbeam we got off you

thanks mitch. if it was'nt for SAI we would still proably be camped out at donaghadee harbour as it was the only mark we knew of when we got into sea angling. it's a great site full of decent people who are always willing to help each other out. so we try to do our bit by keeping the reports and pics coming in whenever we can. we've made some good friends all around ireland in the last 2 years and it's all down to SAI. respect

thanks dave. we had an excellent trip with some fine fish . at the rate of petrol price increasing we might need sponsorship next year i would scare myself if i sat down and added up what we must have spent on petrol alone this year oh and i got you that measure man, just p.m. me your address and i'll get it posted down this week mate

Wrasse sure do like rag - even though they would have never seen one before.

Good to hear the rod worked out for ya fella. There always seems to be a stigma attached to new rods and getting a decent fish. Lets hope my new Zziplex HSM gets me that winning fish at the comps.

have to agree with you al,have never got corkwing wrasse at that mark and have not used rag as there not a normal bait this side of the coast,but the wrasse could not get enough of them,so im going to have think about a better selection of baits. and less of the "doggie is great" craic!

so i'm been taken out for a birthday treat next week, theres a restaurant in the town that are doing a very nice special, a 36oz STEAK on a bed of onions n' mushrooms with garlic chips jes; i cant wait
