I haven't seen or heard of much netting either but I have come across marked fish in the last month, so I suppose it must be going on. :(

great fishing on the bass there cortaz, the first serious fish of the year!!,all i can say about the net marks is dont beat yourself up about them, the were not caused around the irish coast,,been talking to a few mates in jersey in the sw approaches and throu winter these fish have been hammered week after week by the french trawlers the ones we are catching are the luckey ones,,
heard reports of 25tonne a day landed on french soil,,there will be more with net marks to come

f. sake thats scary....... around the spawning grounds i take it?.......Graham, i know the score round here, the marks were no douth what so ever caused by "local gillnets" 1,000%, and from what i know most of the french boats "trawl" for the bass in that area, different nets/marks although they must be still takeing a lot of "irish"bass,..

Its such a shame that this gillnetting is going on. The angling could be so good if it were stopped, but could be completely destroyed if its allowed to continue with additional pressures from commercial trawlers.
