I use a similar setup witha teaser above a leadhead and jelly and it works brilliantly for pollack as well.

Teasers have saved me from many a blank, I've caught loads of little pollack and mackerel using the method. The only problem as you say Graham is double hookups. I used everything from single mackerel feathers and hookai to my own attempts at fly tying, all with varying degrees of success. What do guys use as teasers?

I use a very small white Feather.

Just a question, do you tie your lure to the hook on the teaser? I normally tie the teaser as a dropper , like you would trout fihsing.

I picked up a few of those lures in Henry's Tackle shop, supposed to be for sea-trout alright, but I can't for the life of me remeber what they are called....Not cheap mind!

I thought it looked like a water knot tied 6'' above the lure with a 2' dropper trailing behind, suppose it lets the lure work as it should rather than having a dropper tied to the hook/ring, maybe cast better as well, just hope Bigcol doesn't read this one :wink:

That's how I normally tie it myself Sean. I just couldn't tell from the picture if it was the same way.

I use them for pollack as well, only I use a bit of beach ball - burst before I cut it up to avoid the kids killing me! - the plastic is almost indestructible and the best pattern is a bit of any colour with a bit of white, whipped on as you would with a spade end hook. Simple and very effective. One way to avoid double hook ups is to put it no more than 15 cms above the lure as it gives the impression of a big bait fish chasing a small bait fish - the only problem is a big pollack taking both lures in one almight gulp!

thats the problem when using a teaser for Bass ,,when you hook a bass there is on occasions a few companions sussing out whats going on ,,other interested bass swimming with the hooked fish,,this can lead to a double hook up which is leathal if they are larger fish and leads to both fish lost,,i would advise to fish a teaser early on in the year only,, to increase the odds,, later on when the bass are established there is no need for a teaser :D

you should know the time by the suns reflection dancing off the crystal water on to the gold bling reel finally resting as a twinkle in that little Basses eye 8) 8) 13 20 not far off

always on a dropper!!,,try to sit the dropper fly,, over half way from the lure to the tie in point of the dropper dependant on the ground fishing and the angle of retrieve :shock:
