Hi Folks

Paul , see what you mean about the pic - looks like the sort of mark you sometimes see on small grilse that have slipped the nets, - but the fish was clean as a whistle, propbably sand, or gick from my hands from lifting it.

FWIW i have tried this mark twice since ( well you would wouldn't you.)

first session, lW up for about 4 hrs - cold - an an odd surf where the tideline was 100yds away one minute, then water was around your feet, fisihng sandeel , and also tried whole prawn ( big ,whole, uncooked ones from Lidl, dont know about the fish , but i want to eat them :-)) anybody tried these??? got a decent seatrout last year that spewed up a large prawn when i landed it so thought id give it a try.

second session, Sunday nite, got held up and arrived about 40 mins before HW, big tide and nice surf, cold with a fair breeze, got a good rattle about 1hr after HW, something lively - almost definitly a decent sea trout, weight snagged on the shingle coming in and when i went to give it a bit of welly the line snapped at the rod :-(((, lining of the top eye had come out, and the steel edge was rough - bummer.

fished on another hr or so with the other rod but Nada again
