South Wicklow Beach 29/12/07

nice catch mate. from looking at the picture of the trigger fish it looks like it has no eyes so i have came up with the conclusion that it was blind and could not see where it was swimming and thats how it ended up on the east coast - its not rocket science really. one of my mates caught a gilt head off court town beach which i taught was strange and that was only really two months ago - never really saw them on the east coast either.

Interesting theory samo :lol: Should have noticed those tell tale signs myself :lol:

Nice codling Seanie :wink: A big year for triggers this year, seemed to be all up the west coast right up into early November. Came across another dead one on Streedagh on Sligo over christmas. Clever feckers but the drop in temps as John D pointed out crocks them or sends any others fleeing south again

I have heard that the Triggers follow the Atlantic current, which brings them in Contact with the West Coast.. Apparently they can't retreat to Warmer waters as they are not built for covering such distances like a Salmon.. And to go bach South, they would being going against the current....

Might be bull, but sounds likes right.
