Hi Dave
there is a number of interesting 'correlations' (if thats the right word) to be had when you look at the numbers. I am attaching the graph for avearge fish size for the same period. You can see a rise over the season towards the end of the year in general fish sizes.
Notes :
April can produce larger fish than normal
September through to November produces larger fish
Fly fishing produces less large fish in comparison to lure fishing.
BUT: we have taken the biggest fish on special flies!
Fly fishing can produce more fish when fish are not responding/refusing to take lures.
I am also attaching a graph of rainfall for rosslare for 2007 and 2006 - I think Dave that if you place this in relation to catch rates of bass you may see the patterns - numbers of fish/unit of effort are lower than that of 2007 considerably (july to nov) (even though number of customers was similar), yet rainfall for 2007 is considerably lower and we have better catches.
There is a similar instance during April
Runoff from rivers/housing estates/land etc does have an effect no doubt.

hi jim, did you ever consider tagging some fish for more info :?: was previously done in sth wexford before, same fish caught months later on same beach. from bait fish caught it also peaks in october from our minor results ive put this down to less fry being available when the bass seem to turn to feeding off bottom any ideas on food types and sources effecting catch rates during different months, august seems to be worst for bait fishing on some of our beaches also im not convinced that the ban is timed for right dates, what u think :?:

Hi Hammers
I'll put a reply together later today on a new thread regarding a few things about time of year and flies and lures etc, please remember its just a few things i recorded over time and not definitive as yet - maybe after another 5 years we could draw some firm conclusions or maybe we can now, i'm not sure.
i do record scales a lot of the time for the CFB (provided its ok with the customer) but i have never tagged fish - but will mention this in the new thread.
Jim
