Now my friends I wish to tell you a story,
of a man who Laughed at Lee,
Who went on to do the same thing,
On a Pier on Donaghadee,

Now whats the thing with street Lamps?
That shine proud in the Night
I think I've got the answer...
These boys just dont like Lights!

Fishing was at times frantic with Rods bouncing all over the place, the fish were going Skitzo for the Ragworm, and the Rockling were loving the Mackeral, a great night, and a great bit of banter... I'll let GG update cos he's still out.

Yes - I am a numpty, come back Lee - all is forgiven.

Drew managed to land 14 fish - I got one - I am convinced he was groundbaiting the mouth of the harbour since noon yesterday.

Still - good craic and the chicken burgers out of the Captains Table are magic!!!

Drew - how did you manage to post at 9.55 when you left me after 10!!!!

I am certain there is a wireless connection at that bloody pier - I'm gonna bring my laptop the next time I go down and find it!!!

Hi,

I'm new here.

I grew up in Bangor and learnt how to fish on Bangor Pier (the old wooden North Pier).

My first fish was a 3/4 lb Grey Gurnard on a Gold and Red Mepps.

I then graduated to the mackeral off the rocks on Seacliff Road and eventually to Orlock.

For the last 20 years or so I have been mainly concentrating on trout on the lakes.

I'm now feeling a strong pull back to the coast and really fancy some Saltwater Fly Fishing. I'm going to try Orlock (and Sandeel Bay) this summer.

Three questions:

1. Am I mad.
2. Have you seen anyone else waving a flyrod in this area.
3. Can you suggest any venues in this general area that might be worth a throw.

ps. The fishing on Bangor (and Donaghadee) Piers seems to have improved somewhat since I fished there.

People: Drew

Duration: 5pm - 9pm

Tide: Dropping

Weather: Southerly Breeze.

Bait: Ragworm, Mackeral, Crab, Squid, Sandeel

Rigs: 2 Hook Clipped Down (1/0), Pennell Pulley (1 Flying, 3/0 Fixed)

Results: 3 Coalies (+20cm), 7 Coalies (-20cm), 1 Whiting (+20cm) 2 Whiting (-20cm), 5 Pollack (+20cm) 3 Pollack (-20cm), 8 Codling (-20cm).

Report:

Another eventful session on the Dee, Rod tip kept bouncing all night, The only thing to take the Pennell Pulley on the G5 was a Pollack on the Retrieve, Was actually hoping for a couple of Dogs, But Oh Well.

Tryed for an Eel for an Hour, But since the Dee isn't renouned for them I didn't really hold up much hope.

One thing to mention is a couple of the Coalfish bites which putting it mildly were absolutely Savage, Ripped the Sandstorm out of the Rest a Couple of times, thought sure it was a Hyperactive Doggie at first :?
