 Just got back from west pier, DĂșn Laoghaire. Blanked and others (diminished numbers) fishing off wall
apparently did none better. 2nd. blank in three weeks (total 4 and half hours fishing!). Anedoctal evidence
is of catches in single figures.
The commercial stocks (see earlier post re: Russian factory ships off Iceland and Faroes) may be effecting lack of inshore shoals for shore anlgers. I'm no expert but a quick Google search reveals a consist stupity by non-aligned nations taking more than their sustainable, fair share.  It's clearly a serious issue, stretching back several years.
Anyway,I got a lovely swim in Seapoint as partial compensation :D and hope springs eternal......  ...... I'll give Poolbeg and Greystones a go in a week or so. Poolbeg fished well for mackerel and wrasse August 2011 with half the Dublin Filipino community doing well :!:

Happy huntting

Nothing at Ballycotton pier this morning admittedly the completely wrong part of the tide ,heading for low water. Not a sign even though the place was stuffed with baitfish (mainly sandeels).

Thanks to the gent who helped me with a troublesome joint with my rod!

Fished Poolbeg Yesterday, from Rise to drop back onto the rise from 11am-10:30pm 1 tiny joey (shook him off the hook) and 2 small pollock, a few bashers out, BUT loads of beginners!! Spent most of the time teaching people how to do OTG (off the ground cast) as some of the stunts they were doing were down right dangerous!! Seen one lad catch a hound pup stood on it to get the hook out of its mouth?!?!? And then he was telling people it was a doggie!  Why dont these people LEARN how to fish properly?

I was out in Dingle Bay, on a charter boat and out of 6 of us I was the only to get a mackerel, that was it. There was not one diving garnet to be seen, in any normal summer the place is coming down with them, not one dolphin to be seen, though we did see quite a few minke whales. We did not that bad, considering there is bugger all about the place, I had one cod of about 8 lbs and friend has one of about 3, loads of pollack and pout, in all we had 13 species, not bad for a crew which had only one under 65.

A few macks around from ballycotton at hw this morning, but so frustrating when fishing what you think is a safe distance from casters on the pier ,hook a fish and next thing some muppets are tangling and crossing lines searching for a prized mackerel.God I hate macky season
Also a lot of weed so choose where to fish carefully
