Yea hopefully iv givin myself a mission to make a good effort on my local area dis year,i know dat ders better fishing elsewere but when u add up fuel bait tackle and time is it worth it? ,im hoping with hard work and luck i might get a few good fish and maybe get a new perspective on the area,if only the fishing was as good as the bait collecting, maybe it is? :D

I fished it last week twice and couldn't get over the amount of heavy weed but at least saved the blank

Theres more to the area then bass, fish with smaller baits and lighter rigs, theres a few seatrout ,mullet, flounders, and the area can throw up the odd unexpected, just vary ur rigs and baits, rag mack and razor seem to work best ,time and effort is the name of the game,if u get a bass just put em back no harm done, just dig the rag in any estuary under mussle beds, happy fishing until u can target the the bass,be prepared to be disappointed a few times but ull have a good evening eventually

Hi All, I've fished Gormanston beach quite a lot over the last few years, mostly in Autumn. Depending on conditions it can be a great Bass beach. I've had a few sessions where I've had multiple Bass.

That's not all, There are plenty of Flounders, I've had them to over 2lb...

Plenty of silver Eels too, the odd whiting and finger long codling and even a Gilthead 2 years ago.

There are other areas too that I'd say produce like the cardy rocks but I haven't had any luck there yet.

Keep us posted on how you get on, And also if you know any other spots around. we need to develop the fishing around here and the more people that try local spots and share info, the more we'll know about what's out there!!

So true Chris, my sentiments exactly. I've yet to catch a bass at laytown or gormanstown, only really started targeting north Dublin since last November, but it's my #1 goal this year! These are great beaches, and on my doorstep (Ashbourne) they have to produce Bass soon. I've caught my PB flounder in Gormanstown this year 41cm! seems to produce decent size flatties as had my second PB flattie in laytown last November at 39cm too :D
I fished the Cardy rocks earlier this year and blanked. Looks like it has potential though. Can't wait for the ban to end! will post all results here!

Keep us posted on catches in the area lads iv fished this part of the coast for years now and have had some great sessions on laytown for bass and flounder although I never had much luck on gormanston but have seen some huge flounder caught there. Most of the rocky beaches around the area fish well for whiting and codling in winter most of them small but there is the odd decent fish caught! I think if we all put a bit of time and effort into the area we should stumble upon a decent few fish eventually and it would save us all a bit fuel etc!!
Maybe we could start a north dublin to drogheda reports page!!

Cardy rocks/bremore head area should produce,iv had pollack and macks there,iv bait fished it also not great results over the years mostly pin whiting ,although iv had a few huge bites but lost the fish reeling in and they felt big,the ground is rough for about 30 yards then clean sand between the head and cardy rocks, the only major problem which wud affect the fishing is that the area usually has about twenty seals hanging about

I saw one of those Seals eating what looked like a huss one day last year... It was too bid to be a doggie!

I like to idea about a local report, I'm getting the urge to get out and give the area a shot soon.

Happy fishing!!

Fished it Tuesday evening one big bite but lost the trace 
Lots of gannets diving and counted 14 seals in one go.
Will have to try it again it looks so fishy and I'd say the seals are there for a reason 
