PORTSTEWART 25TH, 26TH AND 27TH MARCH

Mon Mar 28, 2011 10:47 pm

PEOPLE: Me, daddy, brother, and m8

WEATHER: sunny

TIDE: both

RIGS: two hook clipped down, pulley

BAIT:mackerel, ragworm, sand eel

RESULTS: 21 coallies, 5 dogfish

the good weather came in and i decided to go for my first session of the year. i heard the fishing wasnt that great at the minute so i wasnt expecting much.

i arrived at the mark around 10 in the morning, i tracked over some very slippery rocks and had a look at the platform i fish off, it looked alright so i walked over and just as i put my bag down a wave crashed and surrounded me with water. i was lucky i got a quick escape by jumping on to a higher rock. so i made a dash for a for the safer rocks and got setup. the fishing was great pulling up coallies every half hour r so and a couple of doggies i was surprised we got so many cause i was told the fishin wasnt great. it was pretty much the same the other two days.

all and all it was a great session to open my year and hope to get out again soon

its been lovely this last few days down there. hope it keeps up.

aye them ol coalies keep the interest up, a few bigger ones would be nice though. i was chatting to a fellow local angler who was telling me story about a 12lb coalie he caught spinning for sea trout a good few years ago.....can you imaging hooking that beast.!?!?

thanks m8, the weather was class, but there was a bit of a north wind at times that woulda skinned ya. the ground is weedy out to about 70 yards then sandy bottom from there so u need to give er a good thump out. i fish this mark reguarly and it dosent usually fish that great this time of year but think i just hit it lucky.
