first thornie of the year! 22-01-11

Report:we had planned to meet up at a galway mark,dan kindly picked me up and off we went,we decided to dig for some lug at a new spot i was given, it was low tide and we dug at the very edge, the upside was we ended up with forty live sandeel! we finally arrived at the mark to meet up with gerry and mick who had been there about an hour,within five minutes of setting up i got the first bite of the day,and a nice scrap was had,with the fish hugging the bottom hard,after about five minutes i got its head up and landed a fine thornie of 6lb 8oz. fifteen minutes later it all happened again,this thornie weighed about four lb,well,that was me happy then then dan got in on the act and with a good fight given,he landed a fine thornie of 5lb 10oz(i think)it slowed after that,with the odd dog caught between gerry and dan,with myself and mick getting small whiting,then as light faded mick got three good whiting in a row to 34cm,lovely breakfast fish!! then dan,being dan, decided to whup his brothers arse,and started catching big whiting!!with me and gerry getting another one each,so we finally pack up to the sounds of dan sniggering after catching six good whiting to micks three! final tally,me two thornies and four whiting,dan,one thornie,two dogs and six whiting,mick,six whiting,and gerry,a dog and a heap? of whiting.great days fishing!

Well Noel/Lads another great session for sure and what a way to kick of the year, and some cracking thornies + Whiting as well . That’s the species list kicked off this year for session no 1 for me - So no complaints here, even if Dan is the Whiting King . I seem to remember he did the same thing to me at that mark this time last year!!! Jammy git….
