Only codding(Wicklow beach) 4-9-19

Rigs:pulleys and 2 hook flappers

Results:smoothies, pup smoothies, codling, whiting, dabs, flounder, doggies




Report:got to the beach at 7pm and set up,wasnt looking too good weatherwise but it turned out ok with only drizzly rain falling from time to time. It was warm enough too . We were all fishing 2 rods each, I had one out for smoothies and I in close for any stray fish , hopefully bass . For once, Neil ended up in the middle and he was the only one of us to connect with a codling,a 35cm one at that, nice and thick . Myself and Ger had to settle for Smoothies instead, and with Ger connecting with one at the start of the session, things were looking up . It was quickly beached, photographed and released and he followed this up with another one shortly after , slightly smaller. With the pressure on I noticed I had a slackliner and when I lifted into it there was a good fish on the other end . I got it in using the waves and Neil gave me a hand unhooking it. Quick pic and it was released , pressure off now . Neil wasnt having much luck in the middle but then he landed a nice 35cm codling, nice thick fish. .I had a few whiting, then a double of a 26cm Dab and a small whiting. Ger had another smoothie, this time a pup, after dark, and also had a few doggies. Neil had a flounder after dark. While baiting up my in- close rod, there was a good knock on the distance one , which was lifted up out of the sand and I quickly grabbed it and lifted into another decent smoothie, happy days. To finish up I had a couple of whiting and a doggie.We left at 11-30pm with the tide out when we ran out of crab ,,,,,a decent session after a few barren(not blanks ) ones lately

Looks like a nice productive mark, all the same, if you time it right, I would feel a little jealously creepin in there lads , Nice fishin!!!!

well rodger a day can make difference went down last
night and it was crap 1 dab ,1 scorpion fish and last cast 1 flounder
wont complain though it was my first bad session there

Cheers for the nice comments lads ,,,,,,,,,,,youre a great bunch Its a great feeling to connect with a decent fish and makes all the effort put into catching them worthwhile. If only i'd seen what I looked like in that hat before the photos were taken ,,,,,,,,but its now my lucky hat and i'm stuck with it At least I can finally get rid of those "lucky" hi-vis leggings.

Nice session well done ,Always good to get a fruitful session especially with all those years of experience between the three of yas ,Lets hope the smuts stay around for a few more weeks they give a great scrap
