Report:
Decided I prefer to fish out west, and had promised to bring Ken to my bass marks, so picked him up bout 12thirty and headed off. We had dug lug the day before, and 10 rag to see if the west coast fish knew what they were.
even though we were not going to fish til late that night, I had art stuff to do out west, hence the early start for a lae night session. Anyhow, after a day of doing recon to rock marks for future visits, and a lovely meal of Fresh pan fried Hake, we hit the beach.. ...
There was meant to be a moderate westerly to south westerly, so figured we'd get some surf- it was like a mill pond most of the night, bar a small wave or 2, so things didn;t look good for our targeted quarry...
The tide was into it's last hour of ebb, so we'd walk, cast, then have to walk further or else be fishin onto sand... I started off with the first bite, a flounder attack, but could not get the lads out of the sea! hooked up a few but didn;t manage to get them all the way in, but felt decent, usually get them 40cm+ from here..
as the tide turned, the bites started more steadily, though no hook ups for a while..
The first fish fell to me at exactly 00:00, a bass of about 30cm or so, no giant, but a silver fella all the same...
From here on we caught 1 fish for every 5 or 6 bites, they are hard to hook up here, but we got 13 bass in all, no monsters, biggest bout 38cm, 1lb and half max, but still enjoyable to keep busy with bites all night.I popped 2 rag on at one stage and it had only hit the water for 10 secs and it was bouncing, producing yet another schoolie.we Both had somemonster bites, where the rodtip almost hit the the water, but again, they'd be gone as soon as you got to rod, which was 2 ft away... decided to pack up at 4am when we ran out of beach to stand on
