Weather: Blue skies sunshine wind SSE F3 turning E later in the day
Bait: mackerel, squid, sandeel, razor, wraps, blueys
Rigs: flappers & pullys
Results: Flounder & Coalfish
Report: An informal Club get together saw 4 anglers turn up to fish a surprisingly sun soaked beach. It was a totally different day to the icey fog we left behind in Galway. Noel and John were setup and fishing when Martin and Myself arrived, with Noel having two Flounders in the mid 20's accounted for, after a quick chat myself and Martin got set up. First casts for us produced two Flounder a 24cm for Martin and a 30cm for myself, nice start with the cold snap lack of surf and an East wind i thought the fishing was going really suffer. I had a single clipped rig at distance just to mix things up a bit all the baits offered at distance went untouched for the session. Things went slow for the next hour so i changed tack and recast and went on a flounder walk down to Noel and John. We were yapping away with banter flying we went to have a deco at a adult grey seal that was dead on the beach no visible wounds on it to note. First seal i've see around that stretch coast sad sight really. After leaving my gear out for long enough i strolled back down and reeled in a treble shot of flounder with the biggest 29cm. Noel and Martin picked off another single each in the mid 20's. I was surprised no turbot were showing 2nd session here this year with no turbot appearing. After more banter with the lads Martin got his 3rd flounder of the session around 26cm mark. I had a double shot of flounder with the biggest at 32cm. Myself and Martin packed up and left the two boys fishing John wasn't having any luck but i told him the coalies would come on the feed as the light went i got a txt later off Noel to say he'd one more flounder bringing his tally to 4 and John had 2 flounder and a coalie. Not a bad session for cold day in Feb.
Final count was: Noel 4 Flounder, John 2 flounder 1 coalie, Martin 3 flounder & myself 6 flounder
The lads have some pics....

Nothing like the
fresh sea air to clear any ill effects lingering from the night before
Good to meet ye lads and hopefully we'll meet-up again soon for another bash!
Couple of pics to follow (apologies for their lack of quality - obviously the sea air hadn't completed it's therapeutic process by the time these were taken

)
