The session that never was

Mon Nov 16, 2009 2:15 pm

People:Me and Maggie my staffordshire bull terrier

Duration:10 mins

Tide:HUGE

Weather:sunny

Bait:Was to be rag and sandeel

Rigs:didnt get round to that

Results:One very scared and wet dog not to mention me

Report:Should have been working today but when i got up the rain was lashing down and the forcast was bad so i went back to bed .I woke at 9 and saw the weather had improved and was faced with a dilemma should i head into work or take the day off and get a few hours fishing in . The fishing won out and i headed to the tackle shop in wicklow to pick up some rag.Half an hour later my dog Maggie and i were walking down the lane towads a local beach without a care in the world ,i was out fishing and she was having break from the house what could go wrong .As we walked down onto the beach i could see the tide was very far in and the sea quite rough. Maggie ran on ahead but i was not worried Maggie is quite cautious when it comes to water and she does come fishing with me quite a bit so i didnt thik anything of it. When i got on to the beach i couldnt see her and called her name i saw her on the rocks and she turned to come back but a wave came in and knocked her into the sea.She started to swim back but the tide was taking her away from the rocks and she started to struggle , then a huge wave crahed in and she dissapeared. At this stage i had droopped my gear and had my jacket zipped up to try and keep water out of my waders and i waded in paniking if i would ever see my dog again. With waves crashing around me i managed to get out and manged to grab hold of her and dragged her back in to shore. I was pretty shaken and so was poor Maggie but i was so relived she was ok. Needless to say the fishing was abandoned and we went home where a sit by the fire and a hot meal later she is fine. What a morning and it shows you can never take the sea for granted.

Well done you for saving your dog. I am sure that Maggie is really grateful! :D
As a big dog lover myself who owns a dog, I would have done exactly the same thing if that had happened to me despite the risk of putting myself in danger to do so.
I am so glad that the two of you are both o.k, well done 8)

Alls well that ends well. I am sure maggie will be a little more cautious next time. Staff's by nature are a clever enough dog so she will probably remember the experiance.

And for those warm summer days

Bahama-Dog-Bikini_small1.jpg

Made of t-shirt fabrics, this two-piece dog bikini is both comfortable and cute. The bikini top fastens with a Velcro strap at the chest, and ties with spaghetti straps around the neck. The low-rise bikini bottom also fastens with Velcro at the waist. Both pieces are fully lined for comfort and durability, and are machine washable / hang dry. Due to sanitary reasons, our dog swimsuits cannot be returned.

And if theres a sad ending

Dave, I realised it wasn't your dog in the picture after I put up my post and it was too late then to change it, don't worry about me, I'm having a bad day.
Those attachments you uploaded are good, the bikini is very funny, I might get my dog one for Christmas!!!
