Results:4 mullet between 2.5 and 4lbs
Report:
managed to get out for a few hours this morn to catch the tide. arrived at the little bay to fidn it full of mullet breaking on the surface. they proved difficult to get to feed but eventually they started taking bread off the surface. in the space of 30 mins i had 3 before they spooked the rest of the shoal. after this they stopped feeding all together. a small wander further down the bay revealed another small pod of fish. a hand full of bread and these were taking agressively off the surface. i dropped my bread fly into the middle of them and a mullet of about 3.5lb took it confidently. after this the shoal moved further into the channel as the tide receeded..
a very enjoyable few hours, made even more so by the fact they were all on surface flies and on my 4-5wt rod.

Wow ! Got to try this !
Right, I have all of the gear and normally fly fish for either sea trout or bass in rever and sea. So what you might be able to help me with is where or how you get bread flies (perhaps a photo would help). What leader colour and BStrain do you use.
Are there other flies that may work aswell ?
How about if i superglue white wool to a size 12 hook with 6 lb clear mono leader - would that work out ?

Oh, and further to last few questions - what if i tried whote maggots - the type that Coarse anglers use ??
