usually a couple of inches up the snood from the hook if they are the smaller floating beads.. the larger ones can be put at the top of the rig body to elevate the rig, used more for distance casting on beaches to raise one or two hooks off the sea bed

I constantly rave about floaty beads to anyone willing to listen (and even to a few who aren't) :D

The smaller beads won't actually float a bait, but will make it semi bouyant and so it will move enticingly in the tide.

Medium or large beads will float a small bait (have a play in a rock pool or bucket of water to see it in action).

I usually trap a medium bead on my top hooklength for a lot of my fishing. For species such as mackerel, pollack, coalies, gurnard and bass I have found it is unbelievable. It also lifts the bait away from most of the dogfish, although you still get the odd one or two who just can't take a hint. A surprising number of flounders also get caught on the top floating bait and it consistently outfishes the bottom hook on a 1up 1 down rig for me.

Give it a go, I am sure you will soon be buying some more ;)

have over a hundred in different sizes which says enough i think! don't always work but can be lethal.

They are well worth trying on at least one of your snoods MC. Have found coalies, flounder, dabs, macs and pollock particularly stimulated by em'

whats the best rig to use them on?

I usually arm at least one snood of a three hook flapper with one. What Steve Crow says is interesting...putting them on the actuall main trace body..never thought of though

they can make the difference of night and day on some venues dependant on conditions....getting the right size and colour on the day is normally the bigger challenge
