Of course the rig is only as good as the knots that go into it.

This site shows how to tie the most common ones using animations.

Derek pal - less surfing more fishing please

Thanks for the links - it is always good to get a wee refresher. When I started out at the Sea Fishing 2.5 years ago, I bought my rigs ready made. By studying how the rigs were made, I learned how to make my own.

The easiest rig to make is a Pulley Rig, with investment in the right bits and bobs, you can easily move up to 2 & 3 hook clip downs, pennels, conger rigs, scratching rigs etc.

I buy all my bits and bobs on ebay or Veals - you can save a fortune making your own!!!!

But as mentioned above - KNOW YOUR KNOTS!!!! I have lost a few decent fish because of poor knots

Good luck.

Cheers Jude.
Only got back to fishing in July. All my previous fishing experience
totaled macky-bashing, the odd conger on hand-line or borrowed boat rod
and the fluked bass while spinning.

When I decided to go fishing again I tried to do it as best I could. So a lot of surfing for research (tips and suggestions). Especially on gear and tackle, money is tight at the moment (Baby on the way :D ) So trying to get most versatility and value for least outlay.

Some great information there, thanks all! I'm new to sea angling, having spent years fly fishing. I spent a fortune on ready made rigs this year so I will have to practice making some of these to save a few quid!

Hi guys
there is also a saltwater fishing database available with a lot of valuable informations. Maybe you don´t know it yet?

Some examples:
General Fishing tutorials:

- Shock leader

Reels

Hi. My names Anthony and I am new to sea fishing and Ireland (Skibbereen). I am really chuffed on how much this site has helped me. :D

I would like to point out that

[url]http://www.big-game-board.info/index.php?page=DownloadDBView&katID=1/[url]

Is fantastic!! And looks like its been updated since the last posting (3 light tackle doc's)
I am making a light setup for lure fishing and this will help finish off my setup.

(If anyone could pm me with colours of lures or rigs that are working I would be grateful)
