You can get one use handwarmers in the Great Outdoors for 2.50 a pair. Expose them to the air and they heat for about 8 hours...

I suggest gloves and/or pockets  . While gloves may be forgotten pockets are less susceptible to loss, unless of course you've forgotten your coat, in which case you shouldn't stay out

In extreme cases, such as the early onset of frostbite, I suggest using your knackers  . That's right and I'll say it again, "use your knackers"  . Drop your hands down your trousers and after the initial retreat of the knackers to your throat, the hands begin to warm. Obviously pay heed to your surroundings, you never know who might be looking 8) .

I hope this helps  .

use yours or someone near by you tilly lamp (ask first lol)

Put a few stones from beach on top of lamp in no time free hand/pocket warmers.

Saw a fella in scotland dig small hole in sand and fill with warmed up stones then covered with sand put his beach buddy on top and it was warm inside.

It was the stones or the amount of work needed that got him warm.

I take a box of firelighters with me, (the white waxy paraffin type) put one or two in an empty bean can and light. They last for ages and give off tons of heat.

Oh yes they have, just one finger at a time though.
