A lot of anglers are starting to go after the cod at the moment so keep an eye on the condition of your snoods.

Most of the bigger cod will be gut hooked so check you snood about an inch or two above the hook for wear.
Many a good fish has been lost because the snood broke there.

Monkstown and Ferrypoint a clip down pulley rig with a 5' snood. I use one or two 8mm orange beads mainly as a bait stop.
Two hook clip down top snood 75cm bottom snood 80+cm

Used a running swivel for a while but when I saw a few 6oz leads passing out cars along the road in Monkstown it was time to change. The line was getting weak from the constant strain of the swivel on the same point.

When asked what's the biggest fish I've caught I'll always say it's the one that got away.
I've always love to see a fish beat me . But that is my view on things, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Both venues + Youghal would be very similar so the 1 rig fits all.
On snood lengths, the cod seem to feed on the move and just vacuum all before them as they are been pushed along with the tide. How many time have you opened a cod to find stones in the stomach. So a long snood seems to work fine. Probably 90% of the cod you will catch at these venues will be gut hooked.
Where the whiting are more of a predator and will tear the bait while staying at the dinner table
I've found the shorter snoods works better in getting them to hook themselves. When the whiting were plentiful in Monkstown I'd often change over to a set of hookai .
