I will be sending one shortly to the UK and it will be packed the same way Paul Mason sent me a rod,a length of 4 inch sewer pipe and the rod inside and bubble wrap around the rod, really great way to post a rod by courier as these pipe's are super strong, bubble wrap at the 2 ends of pipe and seal it up well wwith parcel tape
2011 species so far
coalfish,plaice,dab flounder,turbot,sea trout,thornback ray,pollock,ling,mackeral

Pat call into carpet/lino supplier ask for slim and longest hard cardboard tube they have and cut to just over disassembled rod size. Pack with crumpled newspapaer and seal the ends well with that thick brown cellotape
Species....good film.....I'll get my coat

Keep away from the carpet tube the cardboard is not strong enough!! I have experimented with different ways of sending rods and I have come up with 4" sewer pipe is the safest and most reasonable way. What length is the rod you're sending?? because they'll only take up to 1.5 meter length going to the UK.
There is a maximum length of 2.1m in Ireland and 1.5m going to the UK.

Got the rod sent off eventually. GLS as mentioned above seemed to be the only com pay who would take it. They expect a 2 day delivery and it cost 33 euro. Thanks for the replies etc pat

Thats strange regarding fastaway couriers based in little island, the reason been i know of several rods sent in the last 2 weeks to the uk with 8ft tip sections and were a lot cheaper than 33 euro, either way glad you got it sorted on all fronts.
