GENERAL CHARTER PRICES 2012 , CHEAPER NOW ? ABSOLUTELY !

Postby THE ROD » Sat Mar 31, 2012 12:46 am

Having fished for the last fifteen odd years in various places from kilmore quay ,to courtmacsherry to name but a few , i have ( as the organiser of our trips ) found the general cost of a charter to have become much more in line with the current financial climate , which i think , as i am sure most of us would agree is a good thing . for example our last trip to west cork cost each of us 330 euro for both boat AND accommodation , yet this years trip to kerry will set us back a very good price in my humble opinion of 220 euro for the same package :D . I's a tough time for skippers , B + B 's i have no doubt , but having said that i think its only right to avail of the good deals that are out there if you're prepared to seek them out .

Every business is struggling to make ends meet at present and fair dues many are trying to compete.
You are not clear on your pricing....330 per man? for how many days etc., in other words for what package ?

Price can never be the final motivator. A professional skipper that produces the goods deserves his premium. I would prefer to pay the good guy than suffer with a cheap amateurish skipper.

Jim's right; how many night's B&B, how many day's charter fishing? Give us an idea just to see what value you're getting?

I 100% agree with Jim and Pat, i hope your getting a good return for your money, on a personal note i pay for quality with skippers, ensuring they have a good, safe and licensed boat, that they come with high reccomendations, that they have built up over many years meeting the needs of anglers and with the ability to keep you busy on fish.

I hope you and your group enjoy your trip all the same.

plenty of good deals in hotels was up in letterkenny and got twin room with brekky for 69 euro( thats 34.50 each 8) was paying 45 in galway and killybegs and got b and b in wex for 25 ,if a skipper is covering the miles i,ve no prob paying but some expect big money to go out a mile and take pot luck ,if you use a skipper regularly he will normally look after you

I would make the most of the prices, have heard that the five designated fishing ports have just been hit with an 800 % yes 800 % rise in fees !!!!
Dunmore East, killybegs are getting hit, it will cost a skipper 46 euro just to pick up passengers !!!!! not to mention E240 per mtr ,berthing fees.
A fantastic way to encourage fishing tourism to ireland, unreal, what next.
