Great knot and I use it a lot on the boat. It is not a good not to cast through the guides when lure fishing. At high speed through the guides, the mono tag end can ping the guides and will eventually fail. I do use this knot for lure fishing, but tend to leave it outside the guides when casting, so the max lenght you can get away with is about an 6 - 8 foot leader, depending on the rod lenght.
For the lads wanting longer leaders and with plenty of time on your hands, try the PR knot.

Spot on Kev I have recently found this out myself. I am going back to the slim beauty knot much better for the lure end of things.
That PR knot is a handy one if you are out in lashings of rain and a good breeze blowin

I've seen a few lures head off into the blue yonder using the albright and modified albright, but I still use it. I just use 5-6 foot leaders max and make sure the knots outside the eyes for casting.
I haven't tried the PR knot yet, but will be giving it a go in the coming weeks.

havn't tried the Albright knot for lures, but use the Double Grinner for the mono to braid backing and then use it again for the rubbing leader braid to mono...it failed the first time i used it but hasn't since and goes through all the rings just fine.
reckon i tied it wrong the first time, would recommend it
