hey costa, yup conventional bottom fishing will work very well over the summer months, ranging from flatfish and doggies, upto rays and tope. where abouts are you based, and what kind of venues do you usually/intend to fish? if you let us know where you fish, the lads on the forum will be more than happy to set you straight. problem is, your question is so broad, i could write a small book here for you, and still not cover alot of the aspects that may be relevant to you, and your marks. fill us in with a few more details on what you'd like to set out to catch etc, and i'll hopefully be able to offer some kind of sound advice.

Cheers,
Patrick

Depends where you're fishing mate, But I'd say stick to the sort of rigs you'd use during the winter...
When I got out in the Summer I take the K2, The Uptider, and the Spinning Rod, So I can fish 2 Rods on the Bottom as usual and Fire feathers with the Spinning Rod to try to pick up some Fresh Bait...
Which is hell this year due to the face that there ARE NO FLIPPING MACKERAL!!!
Try 2 Hook Scratchers baited with Rag, Mackeral, Sandeel, Squid Combos and that should get some species interested. :D

can you get wrasse in portaferry and what kind of spinner will jelly worms and sandeel work

I'd say stick to silver spinners til you Guage the size of the Pollack/Coalies... IF there's Clonkers showing maybe Jellyworms or Deep Spun Sandeel would do the Job...
