looking for a bit of info lads, i have stripped down an old rod and put on new fittings. i need to know the best way to finish the rod as in what chemicals im gonna need, is there 1 brand that does the whole finish including the threads or am i going to need strong epoxy for the threads and then a different product for the finish, any info would be helpful except i aint going down the nail varnish lane thanks

hi shane the rod is about 6 years old with a lot of wear and tear. i spray painted it with gloss finish then sanded it and resprayed and same again. the marks in it are deep so it didnt fill with paint. if the high build is just for the threads what do i use on the rest of the blank, cheers and yes i fully stripped the rod

But did you take it all the way down to the bear carbon if you did then you shouldn't have any marks at all. For the blank if you spray paint it use clear car lacker for the last coat

yes i got it down to the bare carbon had a fight getting the reel seat off , the marks are there probably from me being a bit to severe in stripping it but they aint that bad either, also there was splinters of carbon in the top third coming off it but that was just from heavy usage . i sanded all loose splinters off it.......thanks for the advice will get some car lacker tommorow
