documenting sessions

Wed Oct 07, 2009 12:43 pm

I have created an excel spreadsheet for documenting each session we go on, something to look back on and see what the best marks were at certain times etc.

so far i have

mark tide moon time bait rigs catch and wind.

anything else to consider adding in or has anyone done this before? it would be great to see some samples or did it come into good use?

Cheers
Rob

I have a similar spreadsheet but I have a focus on bass lure fishing. Here's what I record:

Date
Time
- Start
- End
Venue
Wind
- Direction
- Speed
Air Pressure
- Current
- Change (rising/falling)
Temperature
Cloud (rated 0 - 5, 0 being clear, 5 being overcast)
Precipitation description (e.g. heavy rain)
Water clarity (clear, cloudy, very cloudy, etc)
Time of nearest high tide
Moon (e.g. 0 = full, -1 = 1 day before full, +1 = 1 day after full, etc.)
Number of fish caught

Then, for each fish:
Species
Precise location (incl. distance)
Time
Length (I don't record weight)
Tackle
Comments

I also record the Max/Min temperature for the day (from met eireann website from the nearest station) and the reading from the nearest buoy (buoys are also on teh met eireann site).
