some of you might find this useful, i find it good when just sctraching for small stuff, instead of using crimps(which can't be moved), or stop knots made of mono(which can cause the rig body to kink if readjusted) try using pole elastic to tie stop knots, it'f got enough friction to lock snoods in place, it's a cinch to work with(even with frozen fingers) if you hook a bonus fish the snood runs down the rig body, effectively causing the lead to 'lift' off the bottom, and avoid snags(kinda similar to the pulley rig). and it comes in 5 to 7 metre spools which will last you ages. it always ties really neatly, and i find is perfect for tying multi hook flappers for small whiting and flatties. it isn't great over very rough ground, as the snoods can be easily pulled outta position leading to tangles, but i think it's good on clean ground when there isn't much around to catch

What's pole elastic used for and where can you get it?

sorry i meant to mention what it was(i'm a coarse angler at heart) it's used in coarse fishing in poles(the big awkard looking things that some coarse anglers use) with a pole there is no reel, just the line attached to the top of the pole which is between 8 and 16 meters long. inside the pole an elastic is fitted with stretches when a fish is hooked, and cushions the fight, similar to the drag on a reel.the stuff can stretch a mile, and comes a pile of different colours, and strenghts. it has becone a very high tech part of coarse fishing, and it gets pretty confusing at times. but with regards using it to create stop knots for rig bodies an elastic with a rating of 6 or 8 or 10 would be ideal.(the elastic becomes more powerful as the number increases ranging from 1 through to 20) any fishing shop that has a decent amount of coarse angling gear should have it in stock. and it's cost ranges from about 3 to 10 euros for a 5 to 7 metre spool. get the cheap stuff, all that ultra high visible hollow elastic is very specialised, and makes no difference for tying stop knots. sorry, did i just make things more confusing?!

No confusion, I know where you're at. I knew about poles in coarse fishing but I didn't know about the elastic running through them. I hadn't given it much thought but I assumed you just skull-dragged the fish out of the water once hooked!!! Anyway you lives and you learns. Thanks for the explanation.

I don't know if its the same stuff but 10lb power gum is usually used for stop knots. Rig tubing will give a stronger hold but can kink the line but this is not huge issue with 60lb line.

jaysus don't let coarse anglers hear you say something like skull dragging fish out!!! they're a very sensitive bunch, who think they're very conservation minded young men! who use barbless hooks, fish friendly nets, and unhooking mats, and never kill fish. they'd be quite upset if they thought that was the image other anglers had of them!!
