mail order dilema

Hi all,
just thought id put this up for people to have a quick read of and as a warning to ye all.About 3 weeks ago i ordered a few bits and bobs from a well known dealer in england which i've done plenty of times in the past so no sweat, wrong   .
Still no sign of my package, only differance this time round was a change of address for me,which was no problem. As nothing had arrived at the delivery address,my fathers work place a big establishment in cork and well known in the business world,i rang the company in england,to be told the package had been in CORK for a week in the sorting office,EAST CORK, to be precise.I was then told i'd have it in 2 days :D :D .4 days elapsed still nothing, rang dealer in england to be told the package had been sent back to them by my friends in the sorting office as the delivery address wasn't clear.
Between the rigs and jeels i believe the dealer as i've used them for years my poblem is with the individuals on our shores who appear to be pure DAH and incapable of understanding the address on a package. The package is been resent to me with the same address so fingers crossed. The point i'm making is if ordering from a mail order company make sure to have all the i's dotted and t's crossed on the delivery address so our poor friends on this side of the world can understand and get your package to you quickly and effeciantly
I don't think this is a one off so just beware. The good news is i got my esb, phone and credit card bills today on time so thank goodness for that.
Happy ordering and DELIVERING
MARLINMAN.

Did you order over the phone or write your order over the internet.....the latter being the best way to stop any cock-ups.

If anyone send me an email with their address details, is simply cut and paste it onto a label and almost never have a problem......over the phone is another matter......"oh! sorry I thought you said ??? blah blah" if you know what I mean.

And to be fair to the guys in the sorting office, I somtimes get mail with my address wrong but the name right and they still get it to me, so some do try.....but it can be a minefield at times, Christmas will prove that for sure

Hi Tom,
to be honest i ordered over the phone, but the lads i ordered from have always been excellant. The thought did cross my mind that it might have been something like a missing part of the address but when they called back the address i'd given to them it was spot on.
The irony in the thing is that the actual local post office down here is directly across from my dads business premises and they have more aless the same address as him except for the premises title and whilst we were moving there was never a difficulty in getting things to his address from the same company.I know from talking to a few friends of mine that this kind of thing has been happening more regularly in the past few months with the sorting office in question so in our experience its not a question of bad luck more like a change in delivery policies,or something like that, but fingers crossed it will work out as i'm sure it will, thank goodness for fishing its given me the patience of a saint! Now where the heck are the cod and how long more before they start to show  ,only joking.

Hi all,
just to let you know the parcel finally arrived yesterday,at last.To rub salt to the wound the original address used was used this time around again and there was no problem ,strange but true.

To be fair like, I'm amazed that most Irish mail is delivered with reasonable accuracy, given the vague nature of many addresses.

I'm from the UK (originally), where postcodes, house numbers and street names (in theory) make the job a whole lot easier.

Fair enough shamoo i agree to a certain degree, but on this ocassion the address been used had been used before without trouble and the destination for the package was to a business premises across the road from the local post office not some cottage in the middle of nowhere and if there was a problem with the destination address, how come i got it second time round using the same details,it just does'nt make sense and i know of several other people that had the same problem. One of the people it happened to had to ring his credit card company to cancel the order eventhough he was able to track the package to the sorting office.Anyway the main thing is i got my bits and bobs,so happy days.
