Occasionally, when topwater plugging, a fish will smash into your lure and MISS!!
Sometimes the fish will come back for another attempt, so when you see a missed take, it's best to almost stop working the lure, and give it a few small twitches :!: this gives the fish an opportunity to have another go.....if it feels so inclined
Quite often though, you get one take and that's it!
Does the fish 'mouth' the hard plastic lacquered lure and think....no thanks? [IMG:25:23]http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q213/rushy_photos/smilies/g.gif[/img]
How can you make your chug bug more attractive to the fishies? [IMG:25:23]http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q213/rushy_photos/smilies/g.gif[/img]
Here's how...........
You will need
1. A pot of Vaseline (stop sniggering at the back!)
2. Pilchard oil
3. Glitter

Scoop out a bit of the vaseline......what you choose to do with this is ENTIRELY UP TO YOU!!...........

Add some pilchard oil.....

Give it a good stir to mix in the pilchard oil, I'm using a chopstick  .........

When you're satisfied the oil and vaseline has been amalgamated, add some glitter..........

Give that a thorough mix as well........

You can then smear this concoction on your lure, (I would suggest when you're at your venue!!) the vaseline has the effect of keeping the gunk on your hard plug. Before, I'd tried just pilchard oil but it washed off almost immediately.
The next time a fish attacks your plug and misses, it may think.........hang on, that tasted pretty good, I'll have another go at that!! :D
AND the glitter falling through the water after a missed take would resemble scales falling off an injured fish :!:
Does it work?[IMG:25:23]http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q213/rushy_photos/smilies/g.gif[/img]

I would imagine cleaning your lures afterwards before you store them in the box is epically important!

I wouldn't have thought so really, smearing them in vaseline would normally be a good way to keep them from rusting, I'd have thought smell wise that the cleaning would be important, but hey we fish, we smell.

Yeah it was the smell I was referring to. I suppose it wouldn't really be too big a hardship to clean 6-12 lures at the end of a day.
