Fair play Cortaz. Good idea to keep a log although up north we don't have the luxury of a regular catching cycle that you have down south.
Still, it's an excuse to get out and wet a line.

The peaks are interesting. At new moon you have a higher peak but for fewer days while at full moon you have a lower peak but for more days. Is that an anomoly or does the same pattern show up on your month-by-month data?
almost as regular as clockwork, so accurate it is unbeliveable.
moon rise/set are as good if not better than sun rise/set(dawn,dusk)
ever wonder why sometimes you get 3/4 fish in an hour and nothing eather side... the moon.

so your saying that its best to fish at night only when the moon is full or new

I have a spot that always fishes best at night on a spring tide two hours after hgh water. I must check out whether that ties in with moon-rise/set times ...

These link may be of use here:

http://www.otsinnovations.tzo.com/Files/Soltb135.zip
Last one is a standalone program.
I've compared results for February in Dublin and they're not too different. Only thing left to do is go out there and see if the predictions are true!
PS: I forgot that the program (soltab) can be linked to this one to calculate tides:

new on this forum. just wondering when and where the best place to bass fish near the dublin region
Fri Feb 16, 2007 8:00 pm
there is a big enough tide this weekend, high tide down your way would be around half five on sat.
are you basing your predictions purely on tidal patterns or are you looking at moon phase, moon and sun set times and triggers as well?
i have done that with pike fishing, does tend to work, other factors affect too obviously like weather, water clarity, light levels, time of year and so on. but the moon phase stuff has a canny knack of being accurate, and not just for pike

ah i didnt see the second page of the topic when i clicked on the moved thread.
i used the same system, more or less (i had an equation done up that took weather, water clarity and air pressure into acccount too), i did a check back through my log a few years ago and looked at specimen fish or big catches. 16 out of twenty that i looked at came on peak days. 19 out of 20 came either on a peak day or 24 hours either side of peak day. pretty convincing.
but i kinda got sick of using the system so i havent used in the last year or two, it was getting a bit predictable and i was enjoying fishing less because of it. so i ditched it and now i think ignorance is bliss :D
