BigPhil wrote:MC, fahan is well known mark for thornback fishing in the north west, some fish from the marina wall into the channel over high water and then from the beach over low water, the tow can be pretty fierce here sometimes with 6/7 0z gemini leads with uptide inserts being required to hold bottom, somedays a 4oz bomb even holds, just depends on conditions and tides, the amount of use by marina boats can be a pain sometimes though, many guys have had lines hit and cut etc by boats over the years, so dont leave your rod and pay attention to oncoming boat traffic, april to september are the peak times here.

thanks for the info, was thinking of doing a night session which should avoid the boats, I hope

Tue Jan 23, 2007 7:59 pm

What have I started ???

The car is in the driveway, so I probably won't reveal it's location publicly here!! And the prize is more virtual than physical in nature.

If anyone else wants to guess, we better take it to the Scomber before I get shot for going off topic ... :D

Hey guys, the webs site dons't just cover the marinas. Go the the home page and check out the Lighthouses, Inlets, Anchorages, Port/Harbours, Ferry Terminals and Bridges. Some cool pics and nice view of marks you wouldn't ordinarilly see.
