so i will fix the lead to the swivel then slide a little of the line into the hole in the rubber and pop it back on the point, this way if / when the lead snags i will only need to put a small amount of force on the main line to make the line slip out of the rubber [/color]

Meant to say !! Fix the swivel to the line then attach a little line to the lead and trap it in the rubber,

the needle is a baiting needle and they are hard to get and great for rigging live bait.
