Aye,
We tested it with 600g weight and it registered as 600g. Now I dont no if this is a fair assessment of the scales!
But thats all we had to hand when we tried it.

There will always be outliers. From memory I think 95% of fish are suposed to fall within about 8-10% (2 standard deviations) of the weight indicated for any given length. Yours Danny fell so far out the normal distribution one might expect its possible other factors led to the difference.
As I indicated before the tape is a good indicator but should not be taken equate to a true weight. If the weight maters to you then weigh the bass.

In September I cought a Bass it measured 81cm and weighed in at 10lb 2oz .
It was weighed on an aldi scales tho .
