anyone looking for more information on solar/lunar effects on fishing could do worse then look at the articles below, the first one is a pretty good overview of the general theory and background.

its pretty big business over in the USA, people have been making money selling tables since the 1920s, and especialy so since about 1980 after the publishing of a famous book in 1976. it always surprised me that people were so slow to adopt it over here, especially sea anglers. i know pike anglers that have been using it since about 1990 and i used it a lot since about 1995 but if anything its even more applicable to sea then freshwater.

if you look at the articles and do a bit of digging its easy enough to draw up your own tables without having to part with cash

Cortaz i took your advice about fishing on saturday a mate and i headed for Brandon Pier we had a first class day's fishing the fun started before we left limerick,
i was waiting for the traffic lights to change when my mate's brother tapped on my window in a panic telling me i had left my shopping on the roof of the van,
i forgot that on friday i had got an old egg box - butter tub - and tea bag box and stuck them on the roof over the back doors with blue tack.
all that was left by the time we got to tralee was the butter tub we had people blowing there horns and flashing lights pluss 4 that came up to me telling me about the eggs,
i know what your thinking (small minds)
but it made the drive down very short and it was topped off with 60 fish and 3 spider crabs one had a claw a foot long,
between us we caught 9 coal fish 1 mackerel 50 whittin and 3 large crab,
all fish & crab returned alive bar a few we had to use as bait,
no fish big enough to keep,
we put that down to a net that my mate pointed out to me that went from the shore away out a fair bit to a bouy,
thanks man it was well worth missing work for,

Hi Cortaz, love this thread great stuff.
Would i be right in thinking that 4pm-6pm tuesday would be a good time to fish down here in Kerry accoring to theory of moonphases?
New moon: 11:37 am
Moon set: 4:21pm
Sun set: 4:39pm
High water: 4:43pm

Mon Jan 07, 2008 9:48 am

Hi Cortaz,

What do you reckon about next weekend on the moon phase front? Will be worth giving a try down around Clonea, Connigar area? Thinking of giving it a go next weekend as got 2 bass on Ardmore on Sat 5th around 4pm.

Bertos

spot on aidan 8) between 4 and 5 p.m. you shoud get a few.
bertos, by the weekend i think the best of the fishing will have passed, if you are going to fish clonea try and be there for when the moon is in transit @ 4 p.m. on sat. (directly overhesd) if you do you shoud get a bass or 3 8)

Mon Jan 07, 2008 2:38 pm

hi art. does it matter what state the tide is in relation to the moon times.
