Favoured Rigs

Steve crow may be pleased that i aint doin a poll on this...theres too much variation :) ..whats ur favoured rig? what works best for u?

i vary from venue to species but i manily stick to the 2 hook pat, 3 hook pat, running ledger, pulleys and pennels... when i got a 3 hook pat i have 2 up 1 down, if a 2 hook i usually go 2 up, but for flats 1 up 1 down.. and i stick to these variants usually...i do mess with snood lenghts and rig body lenghts, until i get it right...i try to keep it simple and not go to fancy...i stick to red beads and the conventional crimp bead swivel bead crimp method...on the running ledger ive changed to use a flurocarbon hook lenght, havent tried it out yet... i use 57lb main line and 11.4kg (25lb roughly) snoods ..i go down to 9.1kg snoods...go up to 18.2kg snoods...
lenghts vary but i try to no go to mad with length... knots are also important, giving friction is the main reason for line snaps and tear..the uni knot seems to be effective and know my main knot...i strayed from the improved clinch, it takes more time to do the uni but its way stronger and line stress is less evident..hooks are personal to species and ur own preferences, ive tried semis, nordic bends , long shanks,piggybacks,baitholders...on diff rigs i have diff hooks...usually have the 2/0 mustad uptide viking as standard, for big baits i use the varvas big mouth extra, a fine hook..again whats said and proven is these things are desinged to catch the angler and not the fish...well im sorry but im deep hooked!!! slan

rigs i most use now are:1 up 1 down.
1 hook clipped
3 hook flapper.

actually found them to be the best all-rounder of rigs.. i might make a 1 up 2 down.. but only when i have gone through all the rigs i have and have to make up more :lol:

For The Clean its now Millenium Rigs All that way! :lol:

i use wishbones sometimes vut very rarley and only over clean ground lol

The rigs I make most often and use most often are pulleys and clipped 1 up 1 down. I just vary the snood lengths and hook size to suit the session.

With me its a 2 hook clipped down, a 2 hook flapper, pulley pennel or a running ledger.

Mostly use 2 & 3 hook flappers clipped or unclipped(even though they open on my cast anyway :) Used to use pulley rigs and wishbones a good bit too but found for the Majority of fishing i do flappers work the best..plus the wishbones have a habit of tangleing on me after a few casts.

a little tip i was recently given was to make only 3up and 2 up rigs, if the bottom hook is catching just take a piece of line off between the bottom hook and the lead thus transforming it into a 2up 1 down or 1 up 1 down, simple but effective

I have 3 hook flappers made up that when turned upside down become 2 up 1 down also.

3 hooks, either clipped or flapping. Virtually always have one below the lead.
