Mackerel Cork Harbour

Mon May 30, 2022 4:18 pm

Finally got out past Roches Point yesterday. Was hoping to find a few mackerel to keep kids interested for longer! Not a sniff of anything! As a novice to sea angling, any one have any pointers for Cork Harbour (either inner harbour or just outside) fishing? Thanks

If there are mackerel about you should pick a few just north of No.6 buoy, on the edge of the Turbot Bank.

Finally caught a few between Fair Rock and the oil terminal yesterday. Good few small ones looked like they were chasing around Monkstown too. No big numbers but signs of life!

Fair play!

The jetty area is always a good bet from here onwards. There is a good showing out in the outer harbour too. The small ones can be a bit of a pain. I seem to be getting the bigger macks down deeper.

They've been showing off the quays & piers of Cobh for the last 4 weeks.
