I'm after getting getting a good few metal lures /spinners off an ads site there - kiltys, tobys, german sprats, wedges etc plus some heavier jigs.
I like using metals , brilliant fun for pollock and even mackerel, but unhooking with trebles is a pure nightmare, so I want to change to singles.
I'm having a tough time finding out what the equivalent size single hook is for a given treble- does anyone have a chart or anything?
Also what hook pattern is suitable for single on a metal lure? I was thinking of a circle hook myself.
Lastly, can I just attach the hook to the split ring or do I need to go the assist hook route?
Thanks

Simple rule of thumb is to increase the single by 3. So treble size of 1/0 would equate to a single of 4/0. And a treble of 8 would equate to a single of 2 etc. Personally, I really like the Owner singles. And yes - I just stick them on split rings

Plenty of hook sizing charts online, just google them
Think the idea for a lot of these charts is to then print them onto an A4 sheet to see actual sizes to scale, well in some cases I have seen anyway.
Hope this helps

I changed my trebles a couple of years ago and tied on a coloured feather tail to the hook works very well.

Check out this "Owners" treble to single conversion table.
