Brilliant example Steve, and as usual Jim great articles in the blog. I remember years ago my bro in law forgot the lure box. I was traveling light and all I had was a battered german sprat with no trebbles..! It had no shine and even had salt water damage.
It had hit a thousand rocks in its time.

We attached a 2/0 to the top of the lure and the bottom via the split rings. The lure looked like Frankenstein..! The hook at the top stuck out at a 90 degree angle. He caught 2 bass for the 20 mins they were there whlile I, standing 20 feet away caught nothing..!
Like I said Shiney lures catch anglers.

Believe me Im the worst lure tart out there but Im learning more and more the lure is far down the line of what you need to get right first.
If it was as simple as just attaching a shiney lure we would all be catching lunkers..!
