Personally speaking I think it's way too early, going to hold off for another month myself and even that's early for lures around these parts, I'll be going after decent size Pollock then, I have a good spot that I always start my season off at and always produces but never have had any Bass until later on when the sandeel appear, that's just my opinion though.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!

I start lure fishing for Bass in Dublin around the 1st of May and have caught them before the ban on the 15th, but its not till late August or early September that I find they really start to show up.

I agree with Mozza. There is of course always a chance and it depends on much effort you want to put in and how badly you want to catch a bass. But in my experience in South Dublin I would say the later in the season the better. With September and October being the most likely months to catch.

Once the first big peel starts they'll be around. In Dublin bait really is your only option early doors though, my bass lures stay in the bag till post ban unless I'm travelling further afield. Sea trout are a great option until then, the few quid paid for the licence is well worth the sport you can have.
