Help with tying up lures / etc

Hi lads I know I can view all this online but I prefer to ask trusted people.

Trouble in having is knots keep opening and I'm losing gear.

My usual knot was 6 around the line and then through the bottom loop.

Also should I have a little swivel on the lures / plugs or just tie it to the little ring that's attached to the lures / plugs head.
As in do I put a swivel to line then put on a stringer line then another swivel then lure etc

But the knot tying is killing me.

are you using mono or braid with a fluoro leader?? if its the latter i use a clip, something along the lines of a jb clip and tie it on with a palomar knot. makes changing lures easy and never had any issues with it. also a swivel isn't needed for plugs or soft plastics. some of the more experienced lads will probably suggests some clip alternatives???

with mono i used to use the improved cinch knot with a clip - but its been a while so there may be better options?

Using a simple blood knot on braid with only 6 turns is a recipe for disaster because braid is much more slippery than mono. If you want to continue to use the blood knot give it at least 14 turns.
I always tie a snap swivel to my main line to attach lures because it is easier to change it and if you have a good ball bearing swivel it does away with the dreaded line twist.
Either use the Palomar Knot or the Non Slip Loop, they are easy to tie and have never slipped on me.

If you want to use a fluorocarbon leader before the lure simply tie in the desired length with an Improved Albright Knot.

I would also add that unless you know your knots you're better off without a leader, just attach a lure clip to the main line and that will do you.

The Palomar is a great knot for attaching lures, hooks and clips etc. It works with both braid and fluro and is so easy to tie. Easier in fact than the blood knot you are currently using. If you do end up in the future using a leader (and not everyone does) the uni to uni (or grinner to grinner) knot is in my opinion easier to tie than the albright or reverse albright. It may not technically be as secure but I have never had one fail even when pulling out of snags. I suggest you search on google/you tube for videos or diagrams especially if you want to learn leader knots. Oh and regardless of what it says on the videos I use at least 14 turns in the braid and 7 in the fluro on leader knots as in the videos they are usually talking about mono.

I use these knots myself as well as the Palomar knot and can't fault them.

Apparently there is a knot that's all the rage on my favourite UK marketing blog.....

Sound lads that knot is the business.
Strong as anything.
And I can see what I'm doing as lately eyesight getting blurry.
