Heading down to Dingle over Easter and gonne get some fishing in. I really want to try bait fishing in the surf if conditions are right but I'd like to get some lure fishing in also if the sea isn't too rough for it. I was thinking of maybe trying the estuaries or some rock marks. I don't want to be looking for peoples private marks or anything. I'm just wondering whether it's a bit early for the lures? If not, any advice on tactics. ie better to fish deeper with soft plastics early in the season than topwater plugs etc? Should have said ideally I want to target Bass but I'd be happy enough chasing pollock if that's a more realistic prospect.
Thanks in advance

plenty being caught on lug and crab on the beaches of brandon bay around high tide. A few being caught on lures-not too many tho.

Cheers for letting me know. Do you know can crab be bought down there or is it best to bring some?

Landers in Tralee be your best for bait although i dont think they do fresh peeler, there is a sports shop in Dingle but as far as i remember they only sell frozen sandeel and the selection of tackle is very limited too. For crab i'd say bring it with you to be safe or else have a mooch around Dingle harbour for a few 'native' ones.

Cheers all, would I have a better chance of sea trout on lures at this time of year? If so I might splash out on a permit
