you would be better sticking to bait fishing when the water is coloured.

I don't like murky water myself but noisy lures are worth a try. Heddon/Zara Super Spook is a noisy topwater lure. I think JimH has had success with it in the past in murky water.

thanks lads il try a few plugs with decent rattles! theres a good article in the new sea angler about lure fishing in the dark for bass going to give it a bash over the weekend i know a mark that has bass (seen them loads of times!) but they arent interested during the day for some reason! has anyone else experienced this?

If waters too clear tis a pain in de arse...you get follow after follow...only chance you have is when a group follow in and they panic when they see the other bass following the plug....one probably thinks...feck this i'm grabbing that weird looking thing before the other fellas do...big mistake my friend...FISH ON...hehe...(that has only happened me once....but i nearly pixxed myself with excitement)
Thats my experience with shallow plus and spinners...
I prefer when its between dirty and clear...have caught in really dirty water with noisy plugs....and me buddy had a few in pitch dark...with a plug...but I'm sure bait would be a lot better when its chocolate.....No fun on bait gear though

Ps very interesting reading Jim..cool
