i use a 6ft ugly stick with a little shimano multiplier with 10lb mono but it needs weighty lures .
Ive a 9ft with fixed spool for lighter lures but id love to cast them on the 6ft cause i do love catchin fish on it.

Its definately rod choice rather than line mate. Get into your local tackle shop and ask plenty of questions, never been in one that wasn't helpful. You need the correct spinning rod to cast that size of lure.

I agree with rab01
You may need to change to a rod that can cast within the range of lure sizes you want to use.
Something like a 5 to 25g or 5 to 20g. I dont know your budget but there are some v good rods out there at very reasonable prices that would siut.

Not necessarily! You can find Shimano rods with a casting range of 10-30g for 40 euro (and less) and Tenryu of several hundred. Depends on length, quality of materials such as rings, etc. E.g.:

I can cast 10g and lighter lures including unweighed plastics with little effort.
