Hi men, I’m in need of some info on sea fishing. We have been offered a cottage for a week in Kesh about fifteen miles north of Enniskillen, its available anytime from April to the end of September.
I must admit to being a bit of a Bass plugging fanatic and also have a liking for a spot of Mullet fishing. I’ve done a bit of Googling and good info is a bit sparse with the exception of Coarse and Game fishing. Google maps don’t have a good enough resolution of the area either, although some sandy beaches are visible.
I’m thinking about the area from Sligo up to about Killybegs, as my wife will be on this trip with me I won’t be able to fish every day, so if you have any info that will give me a head start I’d appreciate greatly.
Any fish caught will be returned, so if you have any goods marks, or other info you’d care to share, you can be assured of my discretion.
Cheers

Bass will be hard to locate in that general area. Not impossible, they're there but it's not like the SE/S/SW coasts.
Mullet - you can throw stones in the water and have a good chance of hitting them. April's a bit early for them, though.

Thanks corbyeire thats great far better than google, I shall spend some time looking at it. We are taking this cottage in the middle of June so hopefully there should be a few Mullet about then, an odd Bass would be a bonus.
This year I'm going to spend a bit more time acros the road at the harbour to see if I can beat my pb, be nice to do it in Ireland tho'.
Cheers

I would agree with Tanglerat about your chances of catching Bass but if you fancy a spot of mullet action which I would definitely recommend to you then your going to the right place, there's plenty around the harbours and piers. I'm not sure about throwing stones at them however! Lol!
Best of luck

Let us know how you get on.

Forget about bass fishing over here its not a patch on the MOG! Too far north. Good deep sea fishing in the Killybegs area both from the shore and boat. See link below for a friends charter boat and great b&b (slightly north of Killybegs.) I assume you shall be coming over via Belfast or Larne. There is some resonable mullet fishing both in Strangford Lough and Belfast Lough. If interested PM me and I can fix you up with a local guide who knows all the hot spots. If you are interested in trout fishing your cottage in Kesh is situated in one of the best places in N ireland (Lower Lough Erne) for wild brown trout fishing. BTW the mullet fishing here does not quite compare to that in Drummore Harbour! PM me for any info you may need.

Hi Manxman
Have you had a look here
http://www.nrfb.ie/fishing/sea/index.htmThis is the Northern regional Fisheries Board site and it has a good map and explanations of all the marks in the Donegal Bay area from way above Glencolmcille all the way down to Sligo
I don 't think you are going to find much Bass but Pollock are plentiful as are Mullet and plenty of others. This is my stomping ground as I live in between Killybegs and Donegal Town.
Hope this helps

Thanks again for the replies. As I'll have the wife with me I won't be able to put the time I'd like to in.
Definately be trying for a mullet or two. What area should I be looking at on a tide table.
If your planning a trip over to Drummore again Gannet send me a PM and bring a couple of poppers with you.
Since we moved here from the I.o.M in March I've been exploring further afield and have some new marks that have produced some good fish, just need the time and some settled weather this coming summer to fish them under the full moon.

Yeah give your self the best possible chance by having the full/new moon right in the middle of your trip, well thats my plan when heading to Cork
Best of luck!

Aye it's not only Werewolfs that appreciate a full moon
