Rods.... AGAIN Sakura ? Forget it !

Hi Guys

As many of you will know I was asking a while ago about a good rod to buy. After much discussion and debate I opted for the Sakura Shukan. As many of you will now also know the sodding thing broke last week after only a month of fishing! I have also heard of at least 3 or 4 others that have broken.

The French shop concerned will not give me a refund ( :x ) and will only replace the end section. Fine you might say except that bearing in mind others have also broken I no longer have confidence in the Sakura and will not feel comfortable fishing with it - expecting it to break again.

I know I am going to be looking for another rod now before next Spring.

I was very happy with the action and feel of the rod up until it broke and so I am wondering if anyone out there has tried a Sakura and knows of another - more reliable - rod that is comparable in feel and action with the Sakura Shukan ?

Cheers

Sorry to hear about your rod. I have the 8' 6" version. So far so good, but like you, I know of a few casulties. I bought the rod as a replacement to my Mike Ladle 1010 pro, which I broke in two after falling on it. I was devastated by this, as I loved this rod. However, I quite happy with the Shukan as, although its quite a different rod, its a very similar rod in many respects. Both rods allow the fish to really give a good account of themselves, which is a priority in my book. The Shukan, however, will not cast as far but is better able at imparting action to your lure.

I would recommend the Mike Ladie Surespin 1010 Pro.
I was amazed at the distance I could achieve when casting a lure with a bit of weight to it such as a Patchinko. I could even cast an Asturie 110 which is quite light (although streamlined) for a great distance.
I reckon for the price it is very good value.
